Just Moved at South Campus

After The Boxes Are Unpacked: Just Moved

Are you new to the area?

Recognizing that moving a family presents a huge set of challenges and lots of hard work, we are pleased to offer a Christ-centered study entitled ” Just Moved”
Has moving affected your life? This study provides encouragement for women going through the transition and adjustment to a move. A powerful, hands-on class using biblical principles and practical how-to’s. This class is a part of an international outreach of Just Moved Ministries and meets Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in Building D – The Atrium on the South Campus. Frequently Asked Questions

Why a Newborn Moms Ministry?

  • To provide godly support to women in a time of critical need and offer biblical encouragement in their brand new role as mothers.
  • To create community among new moms, both inside and outside your church, where they connect with and support one another.
  • To offer intergenerational mentoring (Titus 2:3-5) and community building amongst different age groups at your church.
  • To take advantage of a life transition when couples are open to input. As they expect and deliver their first child, life changes radically, and they (especially the women) seek information and support.

Who is this ministry for?

  • New moms, both through adoption or biological birth, who have a child 6 months or younger at the time of the first gathering

What does a meeting look like?

  • We have weekly 1.5-2 hour gatherings with a series of 7 topics (Introduction, Identity, Wisdom, Marriage, Stewardship, Family Relationships, Growth)
  • Meetings will be held in a private room with access to a changing table and diaper genie. We want our moms to be comfortable coming as they are and encourage them to bring the items that make them comfortable for a 1-2 hour gathering (example: boppy pillow for nursing).

Why only first babies, 0-6 months?

  • As the baby becomes more mobile, active, and noisy, it becomes more difficult for the mother to focus on listening or discussion unless the baby is in childcare.
  • After that time, many life adaptations have been incorporated, and there is somewhat less need or openness to rebuilding a new way of life. The new family by 6 months has restructured into a way of life.

MOPS & MOMSnext

MOPS & MOMSnext 2023-2024

MOPS and MOMSnext is a gathering of mothers that encourages and equips moms to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with our church. Join us for a Meal, Speakers, Crafts, Mission Projects, and Connect with other Moms! Your preschoolers will enjoy a loving and safe environment as they follow their own curriculum, enjoy snacks, crafts, and play!

This year, we are excited to expand our MOPS group by adding MOMSnext to our current programming.  We know that your job as a mom does not stop when your children head off to school. Though new challenges and struggles arise as you enter the school years with your kids, the need for community, hope and friendship remains. MOMSnext moms will integrate into our current  MOPS meeting times and will be placed with other moms in the same stage of parenting! Join us at South campus on Tuesday mornings or Wednesday evenings or our North Campus on Thursday Mornings. Email jennifer@thewoodlandsfirst.org for more information or visit our website to sign up!

Bible Study

Grow closer to God and to others by being a part of a small group bible study

South Campus

Do you have trouble thinking of words to say to God when you pray? Are you afraid some emotions are too intense to express to God? Do you reach the end of a day only to realize you haven’t prayed at all? You’re not alone. Prayer is the way we relate to God, but sometimes it’s a struggle. Throughout God’s Word, we encounter many voices who teach us how to pray.

In this 7-session study, join with six beloved Bible teachers who will help you study prayers in the Bible that can inspire your own. You’ll learn that God welcomes your praise and lament, your thanksgiving and intercession. You’ll see examples of how to pray when you’re alone and when you’re gathered with others. Above all, you’ll notice there’s no one right way to pray. As you draw near to God through prayer, you’ll find your faith strengthened and your heart united to Christ.

Room: 105

2 Kings continues the history of Israel’s monarchy in light of God’s covenants. During the period of 2 Kings, the kingdom of Israel continued to be divided between Israel in the north and Judah to the south. There were evil rulers such as Athaliah and Manasseh and godly rulers such as Hezekiah and Josiah. During this period God sent many prophets to His people, notably Elisha and Isaiah. In spite of the downfall and captivity of all Israel by the end of 2 Kings, the future remained open for a new work of the Lord in faithfulness to His promise to the house of David.
