Connect Groups

As you look to know God and become a strong follower of Jesus Christ, you’ll discover that doing life with others is an essential part of your journey. CONNECT GROUPS are intentionally designed to help people connect based on common interests. We may not know each other yet, but we hope that a CONNECT GROUP will serve as an entry point for us to begin to do life together.

Quilting

STITCHING TO SERVE

Our goals are: to use our passion for stitching to bless others and to point people to Jesus
to bring generations of girls/women together in fellowship and service
to pass our love of creating on to younger women and girls

We began as a group of women and girls making aprons for the ladies in our sister church in Romania.  That developed over time into a group who sewed costumes for church programs, bean bags for corn hole games, curtains/sheets/blankets for the nursery, pillowcases for our widows, to name just a few projects.
Along the way, we began teaching ourselves to quilt.  We have donated over 300 quilts in the last few years to people who, we hope, are blessed by them.

Three years ago we expanded our ministry to include crocheting and knitting.  Hundreds of crocheted and knitted items have been given to many local ministries.  And there is room for more!  We welcome any of the “needle arts” that can be used in ministry to meet our goals.  We have a embroidery machine that we have only used to make quilt labels but might be developed into more!

Sewing lessons for beginners and intermediate sewers are given throughout the year on a scheduled basis for anyone ages 9 and up.

We have been blessed with a beautiful room at North Campus with everything needed for sewing, quilting and crocheting/knitting. This is where most of our quilting, sewing, crocheting and classes take place although we have quilters who come there to get fabric and patterns, and stitch quilt tops at home.  They bring them back to us for the quilting, finishing and donating.

Crochet/Knitting :  Tuesdays from 1:30-3:00 pm.   Contact Tempie Pike for more information 936-590-6850

GriefShare

Are you or someone you know grieving the loss of a loved one?

Find help and encouragement through your GriefShare Support Group.

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You do not have to go through the grieving process alone.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future. If you have lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you have probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.  This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you have never faced before.

“Going to GriefShare feels like having warm arms wrapped around you when you’re shivering.”

GriefShare groups meet weekly, for thirteen weeks, and consist of the following distinct components:

Video Seminar – Encouraging, information-packed videos featuring leading grief recovery experts

Support Group – Small group discussion about the weekly video content

Workbook – Journaling and personal study exercises that reinforce the weekly session topics

Your caring facilitators will walk with you on the path from grief toward healing and hope, and they are there to help you face the challenges of grief and help you move towards rebuilding your life.

When: Wednesdays @ our South Campus September 9th – December 9th, 2026

Time: 6:30PM- 8PM

Location: Room B205

Cost: $20 for the workbook (with scholarships available)
