Kids (K - 4th)

FIRST KIDS

INTRODUCTION

Our kinder through fourth grade children’s ministry is a great place to make friends, have fun, and enjoy exciting events. But most importantly, it’s a place where kids can hear about the love of Christ on a level they can understand. Whether its Large Group or Small Group Bible Study, Wednesday night discipleship, or one of our many special events, kids are learning, on an age-appropriate level, how to worship God, grow in Christ-like maturity and service, and share Jesus with the world.

SUNDAY MORNINGS

Kinder-2nd Grade: On Sunday mornings our Kinder-2nd graders have two great hours of programming available-small group Bible Study at 9:30, where kids will build relationships with loving volunteers and deepen friendships with one another as they experience God’s Word, and large group Kids’ Worship at 10:50, where kids will sing, dance, worship, and praise our great God.

3rd-4th grade: At 9:30 am, our 3rd-4th graders have small group Bible Studies by grade where they build relationships with loving volunteers and deepen friendships with one another as they experience God’s Word. We utilize Gospel Project material that walks kids’ through the Bible in Chronological order as they learn the major themes of Scripture presented in really fun and engaging ways.  At 10:50am, 3rd and 4th graders will join their families for the Contemporary worship service in the main building. At this age, kids are beginning to make faith decisions, talk about baptism and salvation, and discover what it means to be a part of the church family. Entering Worship is a big step in your child’s spiritual development, and can be a special time for families to worship together. Make sure they grab one of our weekly Kids’ Worship guides as they enter the sanctuary! Parents may return to building D to pick up their 3rd and 4th grader at the end of the Bible Study hour, or they may give their child’s teacher permission to walk with the class to the Great Hall to meet up with parents at 10:40.

First time guests (SOUTH CAMPUS):  Feel free to take advantage of the guest parking right in front of building D on the west side of our campus, and make your way inside to our Welcome Desk. Our friendly staff will help you check in, answer any questions you may have, and direct you to our Worship Center or to an adult small group classroom.

First time guests (NORTH CAMPUS):  Take advantage of the guest parking right in front of the building. You’ll enter our “Hub” greeting area, and a volunteer will be happy to help you find the kids’ ministry department (located on the second floor). Our friendly staff will help you check in, answer any questions you may have, and direct you to our Worship Center or to an adult small group classroom.

OPPORTUNITIES

There are many special events to help kids grow in the faith as well as in their friendship with one another. Whether it’s Wednesday night discipleship classes, monthly Sunday Fundays, summer camp, or VBS, there really is something for everyone. For more details about any of our ongoing programs or special events, check with our staff at the Welcome Center, or feel free to contact Kimberly Texidor, Kids’ Pastor, kimberly@thewoodlandsfirst.org

Wednesday Nights (Winter Semester Begins January 10)

Your whole family is invited to be a part of our Wednesday night programming. It begins with Wednesday Night Supper served in the Great Hall (South Campus) or the Hub (North Campus) at 5:30,  followed by classes for all ages. Our Kids’ Ministry is offering a Kids’ Choir class winter semester (SOUTH campus only) that will end with a Kids’ Musical Production on May 7. This class is open to kids in 1st-6th grade. For older kids (4th-6th grade) there is also a Bible Study option for kids not in the musical program.  At North campus, all elementary kids will be in a Bible Study group winter semester.

Sunday Fundays:

Sunday Fundays are a chance for your child to have a monthly, thematic event while parents get an afternoon away! Each month (September-May) will feature quality care from our staff, themed events, parties, on-campus guests like the Houston Zoo, or off-site field trips. Registration is limited so families are encouraged to register early to secure their child’s spot.

Special Events:

There are a variety of special events for kids throughout the year. From Vacation Bible School to retreats to summer camp, there are lots of ways for your child to get involved. Make sure and check out our Save the Date tab for more information about upcoming events, or email katya@thewoodlandsfirst.org to be added to our weekly e-newsletter so that you have information on all our happenings!
