First Kids Academy
First Kids Academy is a ministry of The Woodlands First Baptist Church, dedicated to serving families by providing a nurturing and Christ-centered preschool experience. Our mission is to give parents the confidence that their child will be loved, cared for, and educated in a safe, faith-filled environment where they can grow spiritually, socially, and academically.
Rooted in the love of Christ, we strive to foster a foundation of faith and learning, encouraging each child to explore their God-given potential. Through a combination of age-appropriate curriculum, engaging activities, and a focus on Biblical truths, we prepare children for a bright future while planting seeds of faith that will last a lifetime.

Friends of First
We are so excited to offer a new program over at North Campus! 💙
Friends of First is designed for children 20 months through 4 years old and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM for a morning full of faith, learning, and fun.
The program is a 12 week semester that follows CISD closures.

Administration
At First Kids Academy, we are blessed to have a dedicated team of leaders guiding our Christ-centered preschool.
Ms. Medhlin Mendez, our Preschool Director, graduated from Dallas Baptist University and has years of experience as both a preschool teacher and a director. She is passionate about teaching our preschoolers about Jesus and creating a nurturing, enriching environment for every child. An active member of TWFBC community, Ms. Medhlin is always available to support our families and staff. You can reach her at medhlin@thewoodlandsfirst.org.
Mrs. Emma Castillo, our Preschool Admin, ensures the smooth daily operations of First Kids Academy. With years of experience as a teacher and three little ones of her own, she brings both professional expertise and a personal understanding to her role. Curriculum
Our program proudly incorporates the award-winning Frog Street curriculum, a research-based approach designed to foster growth in all areas of development, including language, literacy, math, science, and social-emotional skills. With a focus on hands-on activities, music, and purposeful play, Frog Street creates a joyful and enriching environment where children thrive. Christian Education
At FKA, we are passionate about nurturing not only the minds of our preschoolers but also their hearts. Each week, our children attend Chapel, a special time filled with joyful songs, engaging Bible stories, and heartfelt prayer. Every month, we focus on a memory verse that helps reinforce the truths of God’s Word in a way that is both meaningful and age-appropriate.
In addition to Chapel, we dive deeper into weekly Bible lessons through interactive activities and discussions. This “deep dive” approach fosters a stronger connection and understanding of the stories and messages, helping children build a personal relationship with Jesus.

Abe the Acron
This past season, through prayer and planning with our church leadership and ministry team, we envisioned the future of First Kids Academy. With that, we’re excited to introduce our new mascot—Abe the Acorn!
Why an acorn? It symbolizes the beginning stages of a big, strong oak tree. Like acorns, our littles start small, but with love, values, and guidance, they grow into something strong and impactful. At First Kids Academy, we’re dedicated to nurturing their growth and building a foundation of love to help them shine as the light of the world.
Enrollment Options
Our preschool dedicated to providing a nurturing, faith-filled environment where children can grow in every way. We offer 2 different enrollment options to fit your family’s needs, including part-time programs and full-time programs. Full time care is available during hours of operations (M-F 7:00am-6:30pm). Our part time program is available for children in our walkers classroom and up. Our part time programs are M/W/F or T/Th 8:30-2:30, we do offer 5 day part time for Pre-Kindergarten only. Please note that our part-time program closes in accordance with CISD holidays.

Extracurriculars
We believe in nurturing well-rounded development through engaging and fun activities! Our extra-curricular programs offer exciting opportunities for your child to grow physically, creatively, and spiritually.
- Music with Ms. Michellene
A beloved member of our church family, Ms. Michellene leads our music program, focusing on Christian songs that inspire joy and worship. She even motivates children to memorize the monthly Bible verse with her fun and rewarding Treasure Box tradition!
- Giggle Bus with Mr. Andy
Once a month, children can enjoy the Giggle Bus, a fully-equipped gymnastics gym on wheels! This activity promotes physical fitness, coordination, and fun. Sign-up and payment are required.
- Soccer Shots
Our weekly Soccer Shots program introduces children to soccer basics, teamwork, and active play. This program is a great way to build confidence and skills. Sign-up and payment are required.
